Yep...I'm definitely not good at this blogging thing! Avery is now 19 months old. Time has flown by! She is running around everywhere and talking like crazy. She started Mother's Day Out twice a week. I'm not sure who it's been hardest on...Avery or Gram! It's been a bit of a rough start, but it's a good thing. School has begun and I am teaching 3rd grade. It has been a challenge thus far but I love my kids and like this grade. We had a great summer and look forward to a good fall. Today is the first Georgia game and we are enjoying it with family in Alabama. Avery is enjoying her cousins so much!
Gary and I became an aunt and uncle last week! Tucker Michael Twelkemeier was 7 lbs. 10 oz. and he is too cute! He looks just like his daddy, but I see his mommy in him too! We are so excited that he is here. I have been waiting to be an aunt for so long and I can't believe he's here. He had an infection and had to stay in the hospital for a week, but he is home now and doing well. I don't think he is giving mommy and daddy much sleep or rest, but do any babies??? Those first weeks are so hard! He is a blessing and I can't wait for he and Avery to meet! Hopefully soon...we're giving him a little time to adjust to his new world!

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that our daughter was cute!! Am I biased??? Just kidding...we just can't get over how precious she is!

God's Blessings

Avery is 8 months old now and pulling up. She has a crazy army crawl...meaning she pulls herself around on her belly, except she pulls with one arm and pushes with one leg! It's not pretty, but it sure does get her around. She does not sit still and will stand up using anything and everything she can. With one top tooth showing, she is sure enough a "snaggle tooth" , but the cutest snaggle tooth there is! No, we're not biased.
Working and being a mom is quite a challenge. Not because I don't feel like I can be good mom, or do both at the same time, but because I really want to be home with Avery during the day. She is so much fun and I don't want to miss anything!
I guess life with always be full of questions and choices to make. What should I be doing? What am I really good at? Who do I want to be when I grow up? Yeah, yeah, I'm almost 30 but I still don't feel like a grown up. Will I ever? I just feel like a little kid playing house! Some days I'm better at the game than others. I'm sure it will always be that way.
I guess we should never question things though. God has a plan and has truly blessed our lives with great families, a beautiful daughter, precious pups, a home, cars to drive, food on the table, and clothes on our backs. When life seems overwhelming we should stop and look at our blessings. God is good and we should be always be thankful.

My how things change!

Well, here it is six months since my first blog and our lives are completely different! We welcomed Avery Anne Twelkemeier into the world on February 10, 2008. What a blessing. We wrote my first contraction down at 2:30 pm Saturday, February 9th, and she arrived at 2:34 am on Sunday morning. She retained fluid on her lungs and was quickly taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which was quite frightening, but thankfully she was fine and released on Monday. She was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 19 inches long with a head full of hair! Now 5 1/2 months later she is growing like a weed, rolling over, sitting up (with a little wobble), and making lots of fun noises as she discovers her voice.
Gary received a promotion not long after she was born and he is now the fleet lease manager at the auction and truly enjoys it. It is a new challenge and he is learning everyday. I'm continuing graduate school in Educational Leadership and will go back to teaching in two weeks. I'm still doing real estate, but that will slow down a bit for now. My first priority is now my beautiful family. It's amazing how quickly your priorities change!
We are very blessed and thank God everyday!

No time like the present!

Well, I guess I'm going to try this blog thing. I figure, why not? We're about to go through one of the biggest changes of our lives, so why not share it with friends and family! This is new, so my blogs may not be very exciting, but I'll give it a try!!
